Already mastered all the songs in Guitar Hero on expert? If you’re after a new gaming challenge then perhaps DJ Hero is what you’ve been waiting for! Gaming blog Kotaku have posted up first details of Activision’s foray into club culture, with a release expected in summer 2009 (our winter).

It’s said that the DJ Hero game will come with a �?laptop turntable peripheral’, which will give gamers the ability to scratch, sample and mix. “There is a platter for scratching which will act like the strum toggle on a Guitar Hero guitar,” Kotaku reports. “Above the platter are three buttons for sampling. The controller also includes a cross fader and a sound effects dial which will act like the whammy bar in Guitar Hero.”

This all sounds cool, of course, but the key to the game’s success – just like with Guitar Hero – will be in the music they select. It’s still early days in development so there are no firm details just yet, but so far it’s said the game features mash-ups. “Think Beyonce vs Jimi Hendrix, 50 Cent vs Beastie Boys.” Hmm…
