The journey into music videos has moved from standard time into the Holiday zone. This is purely due to the weekend and has no bearing on its content.

This week continues my compiling of videos and various musical related tid-bits for your viewing pleasure. Some will be brand spanking new, while others will just be things that I like. I am not great with the timeliness yet, but I hope you’ve been enjoying these video collections and actually desire more.

The majority of the videos will fall in the metal realm, as that is where my primary musical interests lie. My tastes definitely extend beyond metal, but as I read on a forum once: “My tastes may have broadened as I have gotten older, but metal will always be my first love.”

Straight Line Stitch - “Black Veil”

Straight Line Stitch is a hardcore/metalcore act hailing from Tennessee and they are prepping the release of their latest album, When Skies Was Ashore, due out later in the summer. The video is a standard performance based clip that does not inspire much. As for the music? It’s not bad. I cannot say there is anything particularly special, although they do bring considerable energy to the table.

Soulfly - “Unleash”

Following up the excellent Cavalera Conspiracy release, Max is readying a new Soulfly album called Conquer. They have put a widget with some videos and other materials out that includes the video for the first single. The song is rocks and Soulfly seems poised to release another strong album. Just scroll the the bottom of video to see “Unleash.”

Johnny Cash - “Hurt”

This is Johnny’s last video, and it is something else. Despite being originally written and performed by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, Johnny makes this sound so deeply personal, as if it was written by him about him. Johnny will forever be missed.
